Set Update With Global’s Director of Technology Gerry Belec

He is the brains behind the operation and implementation of the new studio, and you can feel the creative juices flowing whenever Gerry is around.

Right now all of the newscasts are still being broadcast out of the temporary set, but next month you will see a change when HD becomes apparent on Global TV.   (YIKES! This also means more makeup for all of the hosts and guests!!!)

Here’s more…

My super fun experience at Virgin Radio

When I was in Kelowna, I worked for the country music station B-103 FM as an on air announcer, and since there are only a handful of radio stations in Kelowna, most people who worked in radio knew each other and sometimes hung out together. I remember when I met Kevin Lim and Sonia Sidhu the first time (aka the on air announcers on the other station – SUN FM), because I thought it was so cool to put a face to their voices.

Anyways what’s even cooler is that Kevin and I have now both moved back to Vancouver, and it was so nice to hear from him last Wednesday. And even more cool than that was the fact that he was asking me to fill in with him on the afternoon drive (3 – 7pm) show on Virgin Radio.

And it was really great to meet fellow North Van girl Taylor Jukes who by the way is SUPER nice! That girl has a great voice and a great look.

Here are some more behind the scenes at Virgin Radio:

The controls!

Now we know why the Virgin Radio crew is so happy all the time – they can let out their anger in the “Yelling Room”!?!?

Mark Madryga in costume!

Some of you have been asking for pics of Mark when he did his walk-on role in Kamloops for Project X Theatre’s production of ‘Rocky Horror Show’

So… to satisfy those requests… here’s one pic that I was able to dig up! (thanks to Joan Bayly of Heffley Creek for the second photo)

And while Mark was in Kamloops he went on stage at the Blue Grotto and sang “Sweet Home Alabama” on stage with Brad Krauza.

I guess he feels right at home there, since Kamloops is where Mark grew up.

When I asked him what it was like growing up in Kamloops, he said, “I have totally fond memories of growing up in Kamloops! It’s a fantastic place to live – slower paced, four seasons, and our neighborhood was loaded with good friends. Every Christmas holiday with family and the last day of school every year with summertime ahead were definite highlights!”
